In Her Own Words

My name is Urmila Loona, and I come from a humble background in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Growing up, I witnessed a society where girls were burdened with household chores and forced into early marriages. The prevailing mindset diminished the value of a girl's education, questioning its relevance in the face of an inevitable destiny as a housewife. My father, a security guard, and my mother, a victim of child marriage, struggled to meet our family's needs, unable to pursue their own educational aspirations. However, everything changed when I had the opportunity to join the Sitare Foundation and enroll in Euro International School. It was a turning point in my life, filled with excitement and newfound hope. Suddenly, I saw a path to dream big and accomplish something unprecedented in my community. My aspirations soared, and I set my sights on becoming a software engineer, driven by a desire to contribute to the technological progress of my community. Furthermore, I am committed to supporting other underprivileged students, just like myself, by opening doors of opportunity and empowering them to pursue their dreams. This journey has taught me resilience, determination, and the power of education to break the chains of societal expectations. I am determined to create a better future for myself and inspire others to believe in their potential.
